Three Areas of Concern
When we designed SkyBlueCanvas we started with the idea that our software should address the concerns of three types of users - Small Business Owners, Web Site Designers and Web Site Developers. SkyBlueCanvas simplifies the process of creating and maintaining a web site and reduces the total cost of ownership by resolving the key issues in these three areas.
For Business Owners
We know that as a small business owner, you do not have the time or the inclination to learn new technologies and tools. SkyBlueCanvas allows you to do the things you need to do using the skills you already have. If you can use a word processor, you can change the text and pictures on your site.
We also understand that you do not want a solution that continues to cost you money and requires a programmer to maintain. Once your site is created, you have all the tools you need to manage your site without outside help.
For Designers
We also kept in mind during the design process that as creative people, designers do not want to use a tool that limits their creative expression. SkyBlueCanvas has been designed to separate the functionality and content from the appearance as much as possible. This means that you can build your site skins and express your ideas any way you like.
SkyBlueCanvas uses XHTML for structure and CSS for appearance - the way it is supposed to be. SkyBlueCanvas is completely skinnable so changing the appearance of the site does not require any modification to the content. See our Features page to see the HTML of an actual SkyBlueCanvas skin.
For Developers
Finally, we understand that for any tool to be truly useful, it must be adaptable to changing needs. For this reason, we have made SkyBlueCanvas extensible through Administrator Managers and Front-end Modules. The Manager API is easy to understand and has a lot of the Manager functionality built-in.
